Rotational encryption keys, self-destruct at will, and full moderation and TTL controls so nothing or no-one lingers longer than they should.

Features

Built for crews or individuals who need privacy without friction.

Zero friction for guests, zero logins for drop-ins, and end-to-end encryption for everything that matters.

Truly End-to-End Encrypted

Every message, attachment, and piece of media is encrypted before it leaves your device. Your private room key lives only in the URL hash and never on our servers, never shared, never stored. All we see is opaque ciphertext - not even usernames. No backdoors, no silent fails, no “trust us.” Hush.chat is built so we can’t read your conversations—only the people you invite can.

Ephemeral or Persistent Rooms

Ephemeral rooms vanish on their own by automatically purging after 24 hours. No archives. No message-history graveyards. Just clean, temporary spaces that melt away when you’re done. Prefer something lasting? Persistent rooms give communities a safe ongoing home with keys that can be regenerated and passphrased to prevent unauthorised acccess.

Cypherpunk Nostalgia

A beautifully crafted UI/UX wrapped in a modern cypherpunk aesthetic: neon glow, dark fiber vibes, and just enough danger to feel alive. Hush.chat brings back the thrill of the early cypherpunk era when privacy was rebellion and encrypted chats felt like secret handshakes. Being a cypherpunk is cool again! 😎

Really, another encrypted chat app?

More private than Signal, freer than Telegram, and more anonymous than Discord. We never see or handle your encryption keys as your browser generates and stores them, not us. There’s no shadow moderation or bans like on Telegram, and no global identity or social graph like Discord. Every room is a temporary, sealed space with no history, no continuity, and no trace once it’s gone.

Anonymity as a Superpower

No contacts, no friend lists, no “people you may know,” or shadow identity. Each room is a temporary micro-universe that disappears and takes every trace of who was there with it. Most platforms map your relationships. Our superpower is refusing to remember them.

An Identity That Doesn’t Follow You

Most chat apps tie your identity back to a profile, number, or account. You appear differently in every room: nicknames are local to each room, stored only in your browser, encrypted per-room using the room’s own key, and identifies can be changed at any time without any metadata trails.

All plans use the same end-to-end encrypted core. We never see your plaintext – just signal in the noise.

How hush.chat keeps your chats hush.

Hush.chat is truly end-to-end encrypted by design. Your device generates the keys, your browser does the math, our servers just see encrypted noise.

1. Identity keys

Each account gets a cryptographic identity generated on your device. The public half is stored on our side; the private half never leaves your browser.

2. Room secrets

Every room has its own secret key. That key is individually encrypted to each member's device and stored as blobs we can't read.

3. Client-side crypto

Messages and files are encrypted in your browser using AES-GCM before they ever hit our servers. We relay ciphertext; you and your guests see the plaintext.

tl;dr: keys live in your browser, not on our servers. Free rooms can even self-destruct so nothing sticks around.
